Internationally, we had 2 respondents from each of Australia and the UK, and 1 from each of the US and Egypt. Nice to know we have some international appeal!

53.7% of respondents hold a BScPT. 13% (7) respondents hold a Master's degree, and 9.3% (5) respondents hold a PhD.

91.3% of respondents said that they regularly access our on-line newsletter Nociception? This is very encouraging given the time that goes into producing it.

The question on our future direction was split perfectly between the three response options provided of a) become an official non-profit, b) become a Division of CPA and c) become a sub-group of the Canadian Pain Society. At an executive teleconference yesterday, the motion to move forward as an official non-profit in Canada was passed unanimously after due consideration of each option. We now begin the process of formalizing our executive structure and applying for federal non-profit status. More to come on this as things unfold, so keep your eyes on the website and the newsletters.

91.5% of respondents are CPA members, with 8.5% each also being members of CPS and IASP.

88.9% of respondents would support the CPPSG collecting a nominal yearly fee of not more than cdn$20. Look for this to become a reality before year's end.

86.8% of respondents supported the idea of an e-store being hosted on the CPPSG website, as an additional fundraiser (which will help keep membership costs under control), and as a way to showcase novel pain control products that have adequate scientific rationale. This idea will be considered further at a later date.

Finally, over 90% of respondents supported the idea of having the CPPSG provide web-based or teleconference-based educational opportunities and/or a national symposium with pain and PT as its theme. These ideas are currently being strongly considered, and more information should be available on-line or in the newsletter soon.

This is an exciting time for the CPPSG.
